Union City Power Market

Union City Power Market — Fuel canopy and convenience retail

Union City Power Market reimagines the neighborhood service station as a contemporary, pedestrian-conscious retail destination that integrates architecture, circulation, and public transit access.

A-11  ·  Fuel canopy and convenience retail  ·  Union City, California

The redevelopment replaces the existing convenience store and fueling canopy with a new 2,375 SF Power Market and an expanded 2,875 SF canopy on the approximately 0.5-acre site. The building is composed through a series of articulated volumes, including a prominent stone-clad entry tower, lower storefront elements, and contrasting vertical masses that create a strong identity along Alvarado-Niles Road. Architectural stone, smooth plaster, metal cladding, wood-toned accents, aluminum canopies, and expansive glazing establish a cohesive contemporary material palette across the site. The store is positioned to maintain efficient vehicular circulation while creating safer pedestrian connections to the adjacent transportation center, with accessible parking and routes designed to minimize conflicts with vehicle traffic. Landscaped buffers, consolidated site access, and integrated service elements further strengthen the relationship between the development, surrounding streets, and public realm.
