Solano Water Treatment Plant

Solano Water Treatment Plant — Water treatment facility

Solano Water Treatment Plant combines a highly technical one-MGD treatment program with a hybrid building system designed around UC Davis standards, process flow, future expansion, and long-term operational efficiency.

A-15  ·  Water treatment facility  ·  UC Davis, Davis, California

Owned by UC Davis and located just off campus, the facility accommodates filtration equipment, pumps, electrical systems, laboratory and control spaces, and the clear-span service areas required for plant operations and maintenance. The building uses concrete masonry up to approximately 8'-8" with a prefabricated metal structure above, creating a durable base around equipment and circulation while giving the facility greater architectural articulation than a conventional all-metal industrial building. Large service openings support equipment access, while a separate canopy shelters tanks and less-sensitive process equipment, reducing enclosed building area and construction cost. The design also allows for future expansion as treatment capacity increases while maintaining the operational requirements and design standards established by UC Davis.
